An auto dialer is a software service designed to automatically retrieve a list of phone numbers and initiate outbound calls. Once a call is connected, the auto dialer performs a predefined task, such as delivering a pre-recorded message, connecting the call to a live agent, or providing interactive voice response options.

The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) phone system serves as a private telephony network located within an organization's premises, alternatively referred to as an on-premises phone network. PBX phone systems play a crucial role across various sectors, including hotels, hospitals, banks, and notably in call centers, providing advanced call management features.

During the 1980s, PBX (Private Branch Exchange) technology experienced substantial advancements due to the revolution in electronic circuitry. Call connections shifted to become extension number-based, removing the necessity for dedicated operators. This era also saw a notable reduction in the size of PBX systems, departing from the large and complex structures prevalent in the past.

VoIP, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol, fundamentally transforms communication by enabling the transmission of voice and multimedia content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks. In contrast to traditional telephony systems that rely on dedicated circuit-switched networks, VoIP converts analog voice signals into digital data packets, which are then transmitted over IP-based networks.

Building a basic IP PBX network is straightforward. While complex setups may involve multiple VoIP components, a simple configuration typically includes essential elements that enable users to send and receive VoIP calls effectively.

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) plays a pivotal role in VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology, facilitating communication between SIP-based VoIP phone networks and a diverse array of other phone networks. A SIP gateway serves as the intermediary device responsible for establishing connections between SIP-based systems and various phone networks such as traditional landline PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), mobile GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), landline ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network), and other phone system networks.
